I have learnt that for you to begin and nurture your relationship with God, aside from what your parents or the Sunday school teacher taught on Sunday's. Would require you to make the decision and determination to know and follow Christ.

I learnt how to build my relationship with God with my love for Bible stories.

One of the Bible stories that get me upset to this day would be the Adam and Eve story. (Genesis 3)

If you are familiar with the story of Adam and Eve, you would agree with me that Eve needs some spanking.

I wished she had listened? to God, this world would have been a better place.???

However, I have learnt that for anyone to begin and nurture their relationship with God,

they would have to move past just the Bible stories to build a working relationship with God. Whoopsie??

Here are 5 ways to begin your relationship with God

The Holy Spirit is the dependable helper, comforter and teacher. He reveals the thought of the heavenly Father(The Almighty God) to us.

He simplifies and clarifies any question we might have about God or life issues(for real???). When you’re late to work and you try to write the timing in your favour,

the Holyspirit convicts your heart in a loving way(He is not waiting to judge us).

The whole Jesus talk would make no sense to you except the Holyspirit gives you clarity. It’s still a mystery to some people why God sent His son to die on the cross.

How Jesus Christ was born and the benefits we have of accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour.

Whew! only the sweet Holyspirit gives you that level of understanding of spiritual matters. Our relationship with God becomes exciting and pretence free.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26

This might sound cheesy the Holy Spirit teaches you how to pray and get results. He is more real if you take the time to know Him

A guy reading his bible
studying the bible

Yes! It’s time to pick up the Bible. No worries if it looks old now lol or if you don’t have one. Building a relationship with God requires a study of the Bible to know the character of God.

Just as blood is to the body so is the Bible to our walk with God. You can’t buy a new gadget without first reading the manual(the manufacturer knows best).

The Bible is God’s instructional manual to help us discover who we really are as children of God, our authority, benefits, and how to keep our heads above water in a world like ours.

Everything we will ever need is in the Word of God(Bible). It works when you speak His promises over your life and follow its instructions. The Holy Spirit reveals hidden truths from scriptures.

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” 2Timothy 2:15

The Bible contains promises and instructions, guidance on how to combat life challenges. Just the thought of this gives me goosebumps.

If you study the Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you would know how to pray the right way.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” Hebrew 10:23

Mold your mind

“No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” 2Timothy 2:4

The day you decided to follow Christ you became an enemy of satan. This also means you would have to avoid whatever will cause the devil to hold you hostage.

” This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17″

Choose what strengthens your spirit, soul and body.

Choose what you watch, listen or hear wisely. Because it’s like going back to eating your vomit.

Choose a Bible-believing church, of course with the Holy Spirit should be your first mentor so that He can guide you to good mentors.

But you would also need to be around people who know the word and desire to grow daily.

You alone can decide how far you want to walk or build your relationship with God. It takes discipline and perseverance and of course the help of the Holy Spirit. ( I can’t stress that enough)

Did I miss out on anything? What other practices help you build your relationship with God.
